Painting the Holy Image - An Icon painting workshop with iconographer Valentin will be held in our parish in Mississauga on March 15-18, 2012. Thursday & Friday 7:30-9:30pm; Saturday 10am-5pm; Sunday 1-4pm

Valentin’s Icon painting workshops are for everybody:  At any level - from the beginners to the professional -  you will learn new Icon painting techniques or perfect yours already existing. Each participant of the Icon painting Workshop will be guided on how to step by step start and complete the Traditional Byzantine Icon. You will learn how to prepare an traditional Iconographic colors, such as sankir ,veneda, etc. Every participant of the Valentin’s Icon painting masterclass will receive personal instructions and guidance.

During the workshop Valentin also will discuss with you following subjects: History, styles, traditional and modern techniques, symbolism and meaning of Icons.

Cost: $300 includes all materials. $50 deposit to secure your participation.

Iconographer Valentin – one of the leading contemporary iconographers, working in the traditional iconographic style.

Valentin graduated from the state college of decorative arts in Lviv (Ukraine).

After moving to Canada he studied Iconography with such masters as Fr. Theodore Koufos and

Emil Telizin and worked with them for over 20 years.

Valentin noted for his strict adherence to authentic Byzantine Iconographic tradition both in Greco and Slavic Byzantine styles. During last 24 years he decorated over 30 churches.

While working for “Emil’s design LTD.” he designed award-winning Byzantine style mosaics (Smithsonian institution award) in the Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church of St. Athanasius in Regina, Canada.

In 2007 after decorating the Papal Chapel of Apostolic Nunciate in Ottawa (Canada), ValentinStreltsov was awarded an Pontifical Medal by  Pope Benedict XVI.
